Communication and navigation are very important in terms of voyage safety. In this context, international maritime conventions have determined the number and capacity of communication devices that should be on board according to a ship’s tonnage and voyage region.

Radio surveys are conducted in accordance with the SOLAS convention and are regulated in accordance with “IMO Resolution A997(25) – Survey Guidelines Under the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification, 2007”.
